Unforgettable views were the driv-
ing vision in designing this casita.
Two sides have massive windows,
so light control was key. Soffits were
built to house and hide Roman
shades. The multi-use space will be
utilized as a guest casita, exercise
space and office. The exercise room
has a Murphy bed and rolling night-
stands to aid in creating clear floor
space. Open spaces were left in the
master bedroom for a folding crib.

The “good bones” of this 1940s
ranch house were hidden under
a number of remodels and addi-
tions. The homeowners wanted
to incorporate a large collection
of family antiques, Western and
military collectibles and endless
books into the plan. The kitchen
and baths were updated but look
authentic, and keep their sense of
place with vintage-style concrete
tile and pressed tin door fronts.
