POWDER ROOMS

GOLD

LACHMEE CHIN and

KURT DANNWOLF

O’Donnell Dannwolf Partners & Architects

Hollywood, FL

Tasked with creating his-and-her separate powder rooms to ex-

press the owners’ individual tastes, interior designer Lachmee

Chin and architect Kurt Dannwolf of O’Donnell Dannwolf

Partners & Architects in Hollywood, FL, o er this masculine

space. The design of this room matched the concept embraced

in the residence – to be “visually exciting” and “surprising.”

The creators opted for a very classic black tuxedo style

with a peek-a-boo of white. Black was used as the jumping-o

point, and the challenge was mixing dark or black materials

with beautiful pieces of stone to create a serene room.

A droplet-shaped sink, which o ers a delicate contrast com-

parable to a white tuxedo shirt, acts as the focal point. A Gessi

ceiling mounted faucet in chrome adds drama and bling.

Also providing a dazzling contrast are the carved out circles

of silver leaf by Lithos Luxury on the black marble wall. A

oor-to-ceiling mirror is frosted at the bottom to conceal the

sink’s p-trap, gradually dissipating as it ascends.

On the oor, Opustone marble in Silver Egeo features a

swirled design that maintains the integrity of the veins to give

the foundation a seamless appearance.

Tiered lighting was carefully implemented to provide

enough lighting while maintaining the required mood. Orbit

sconces from Delta Light work with the downlights incorporat-

ed throughout.

LORI CARROLL

Wow moments abound in this powder room created by Lori

Carroll of Lori Carroll & Associates in Tucson, AZ.

Handmade, geometric custom faux leather mosaics from

NappaTile provide a three-dimensional pro le with padded

and non-padded shapes. A specialty nish on the remaining

walls and ceiling give the room a cozier feel, and 20"x20"

Brazilian Multi slate oor tiles continue the warm tones.

A custom-designed Buxy Uni limestone vanity is topped

with a black marble Slice vessel sink from Stone Forest, paired

with the Aliso Wall Mount faucet from California Faucets.

A Kohler Santa Rosa toilet and a pair of custom pendants

of hand-blown glass and blackened steel from 2nd Ave Design

complete the look.

BUSTAMANTE

Nar Fine Carpentry,

Carmichael, CA

Mix rustic, industrial and

luxury together, and the

result is this eclectic powder

room, designed by Nar

Bustamante of Nar Fine

Carpentry in Carmichael,

CA. The mix of elements

and materials includes

reclaimed wood, steel and

modern xtures.

The vanity is fash-

ioned from Clear Alder with a grayed nish, while the oors

and walls behind the vanity and the toilet are Porcelanosa’s

Britania Top tile in a barn style. A reclaimed wood slab with a

live nish enhances these rustic touches.

The vanity area also includes 3" Bit Pulls in Patina Rouge

from Top Knobs, as well as a Kohler vessel sink and Bali faucet

from Gra . A wall-hung Duravit toilet provides a dramatic con-

trast of styles against the tiled wall.
